UPENN Students take a stand: Reduce Waste, Respect Food!
The University of Pennsylvania Organizational Dynamics graduate program in the School of Arts and Sciences invites students, staff, faculty and the local UPenn Community to attend their April 4th Awareness Campaign event. At noon on Locust Walk, between 36th and 37th, Organizational Dynamics students will be spreading awareness about food waste.
A 2009 study found that Americans waste 40% of available calories. That’s about 160 billion pounds of food each year – enough to fill the Rose Bowl to the brim every single day (Jonathan Bloom, American Wasteland). Changing your behaviors to reduce food waste can have a positive impact on issues related to world hunger, our environment, animal welfare, obesity, and more.
Educate yourself on this global issue! Free food and giveaways will be available.
