The UPenn Food Waste Revolution was an initiative led by nine graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania as part of a course in the Organizational Dynamics program of the School of Arts and Sciences during the spring semester of 2013.
Our mission was to raise awareness of the global impact of food waste and change the behaviors of local consumers, supermarkets, and restaurants by engaging them in an education campaign on valuing food, optimizing resource use, and minimizing food waste.
To keep ourselves accountable, share ideas on simple ways to save food, and let you know the issues we struggled with as we changed our own behaviors we decided to blog about our experience. In addition, we led a campus-wide awareness event on April 4, and launched a social media campaign that involved setting-up a Facebook page (UPennFoodWasteRevolution) and a Twitter account (FoodWasteRevolution@PennOrgDynamics), and producing videos (see below).
We hope you find the infomration on this website valuable, and can use it in your efforts to respect food and reduce waste.
